Home Videos

I know personally, that home videos are a major part of my families past. My parents would record every little play we acted out, every recital we performed at. As a child I felt like I was on a reality TV show. But now when we go back and watch them, I’ve got to admit that I’m grateful for the videos. Because without them I probably would have forgotten most of the cool things I did as a kid. Of course half of the videos are taped over or were dropped because of all the fun we were having, but in my opinion, that’s all part of the experience. If you haven’t had a video of you taken when your blowing out the candles off of your first as a matter a fact ALL of your birthday cakes, or have a video of a soccer game you were playing at , or just any video of you making a complete fool of you self, then there’s something missing from your childhood.

Have you ever had your parents take a video of you falling so hard its funny? Or of you being scared so badly it hurts? Well I have. And many other people to. We’ve all heard of the show Americas Funniest Home Videos, and to tell you the truth yeah that show is hilarious! I’m just thankful my parents haven’t submitted anything of me and my sisters.

The Wikipedia definition for a home video is a blanket term used for pre-recorded media that is either sold or hired for home entertainment. But I don’t agree with that definition. For one they don’t have to be sold or hired, many of the home videos that my family has recorded are sitting in a box somewhere. Of course that’s telling something, but it still proves the definition wrong.  A home video can be anything from recording your baby’s first step to recording your self trying out a new net gun you bought.

People even publish there home videos online, there are alot of websites where a bunch of people just upload them onto there. Home videos have come to a sort of tradition here at asd. After or even during every assembly some sort of home video is shown . If it was taken at school , or found on the internet.

Since we are in the 21st century. You don’t have to lug around a hug video camera, or take out the tape and buy new ones. You don’t even have to have a tape player. All you need is a computer. Also in the past people would have to show them on slides but now all you have to do is insert the memory card into the computer and your done.

Over all if it wasn’t for home videos I know my life wouldn’t be the same. And I know that a lot of other peoples wouldn’t be either. Just think  about all the memories you’d be forgetting . But instead you can re watch them all you like.

The Makings

Have you ever taken a drama class? Or acted in the school play? Well I have. And I know its no piece of cake. Now imagine that, but 100 times harder. With more lines to memorize. And your whole career on hold, And at jeopardy. Well that’s what actors go through every time they decide to try out for the role of an actor. Or every time they agree to a script that was sent to them.

The making of movies is not only difficult for the actors , but for the directors. It takes massive amounts of money just to make one scene of the movie. Yet alone the whole thing. Plus the actors income and the rest of the staff and crew. It is very pricy to make a movie. But if it is successful then it is worth all the trouble and all nighters they put in. If not then, they just have to try again.

Many actors have later on become directors. For example Sean Penn who directed Into the Wild. And Robert Deniro , who directed more then one movie  A Bronx Tale , and A Good Sheppard. It is said that the reason most actors or actresses becomes directors later on when their acting lives have been successful is because they heard , or were told a story that inspired them and they thought that it should be made into a movie. Also because they might have met a director or have a movie that they acted in be directed by a director that inspired them to direct. And made them realize, that there real compassion is not acting, but directing.

Shooting the scene may not be easy. But actually putting the movie together can be very simple. If you have a digital camera and a Mac , you can most definitely make a movie using iMovie. People actually do it all the time. Instead of writing on a blog like this one , they just record stuff then post it.

If it wasn’t for all those directors and actors and film makers. I personally think that the world would be a much more boring place. People have become so hooked on movies that they cant go a week without seeing a new one .Of course of the film industry that is very good news. But for the parents of the teenage kids who are the ones who are going and watching the movies it means buying hundreds of movie tickets. But its totally worth it!

Bride Wars

For this weeks review I have chosen to write about the movie, Bride Wars . I thought that movie was something that could actually happen in real life. For me while I was watching it , I couldn’t enjoy it , because I was watching it with my sister who’s getting married in two weeks. So the whole time she would be agreeing with one of the brides or disagreeing. It was pretty annoying, but it did make me laugh, and it made me realize that that could actually happen. I’m willing to bet any amount of money that my sister would probably do some of the things those brides did (just not to that extent) .

Bride Wars came out on January 9th 2009, this romantic comedy made $58,702,788 in the US box office alone.

Bride wars is a movie about two best friends who has dreamt about a summer wedding in the Plaza Hotel ever since they were kids. It ended up that they got proposed to by their boyfriends in the same week. But one of them was proposed to, and the other forced her now fiancé to marry her. In that same week they went to the best wedding planner so she could book them the reservations. The catch is that the wedding planner made a mistake and ended up booking them the same exact date and at the same exact time. Of course the two women fight and fight over who has to change there reservation, but in the end … well ill let you watch the movie and figure it out on your own .

Kate Hudson plays the part of Liv (the one who forced her boyfriend to marry her). And Anne Hathaway as Emma .  I thought this movie was funny and laughable , but I felt bad for their fiancés who just went along with it . Even though there was conflict between Emma and her fiancé it still seemed to me that they were just there as toys and not fiancés.

Here is the Trailer for you to watch and get a sence of whether you like it or not , I know I did . I hope you enjoyed my post for the week.
