Freedom Of Speech

How does freedom of speech relate to me as a blogger?

Freedom of speech relates to me as a blogger in many different ways. Firstly, that I’m allowed to talk freely so I can express my opinions on my blog and share my thoughts with people other than my family and friends. Secondly, that I could influence others with my opinion and it could affect their actions and thoughts. Thirdly, that I am allowed to publish anything as long as it is true.

That last point has been debated in our classroom. It has been debated because sometimes the truth can harm others. Or it could offend others, or it could be that you didn’t actually write the truth that you just wrote your opinion which could not be completely true. But you don’t have to just stop writing your opinions to avoid this. You just have to be more caucus when you are writing. And make sure to include the fact that what you’re writing are your opinions.

When I say that I could influence others with my opinion, I mean that for example. When I write my opinion about a movie and someone comes across my blog and happens to read my post. They are either going to agree or disagree with what I had written , they could have watched the movie and liked it , and I could have said in my weeks post that I also liked it , then that would mean that they agreed . Another way that they could agree is that they could have disliked the movie before reading my post, but then realized that the points I listed are true, or I could list some facts about how much the movie costed to make or who the director was, so they could lower their opinion to the standard of the movie.

I personally find this picture offensive, because its saying if you’re not rich, then you’re not allowed to talk, but really anyone should be allowed to speak what’s on their mind just as long as its not harmful to anyone.

I hope that you agree with the relationships I have as a blogger with freedom of speech. And that the next time you sit down to write your blog or a paper that’s due that you speak freely but truthfully.
